Ethereal Candle Crafters is a South African artisanal manufacturing studio creating handcrafted candles perfect for events, gifts and home décor.
Our work is shaped by contrast, raw landscapes against vibrant coastlines,
structured architecture beside softer natural forms, functional objects elevated through thoughtful design. Everything is hand-poured locally, in small batches using original designs developed in-house.

We work with colour as a core design material, drawing from South Africa’s varied landscapes and diverse culture, from the red-brown earth of the Karoo to the deep blues and greens of the Natal wild coast.
Rather than following seasonal trend cycles, we develop shades that feel grounded, expressive, and enduring in a space.
Each colour is created to layer naturally across collections, allowing arrangements to feel curated rather than matched, they are built through contrast, tone, and balance.

THE CRAFT
Every candle is hand-poured in our studio using a custom wax blend developed for a clean, long-lasting burn and a richly pigmented matte finish.
We work in small batches to maintain consistency in colour, detail, and finish while
still preserving the character of something made by hand.
Subtle variations are part of the process and shows the character of craftsmanship rather than mass production.

We believe good design should feel lived with, not locked away for special occasions.
Our approach combines sculptural design, strong colour work, and practical craftsmanship to create pieces that feel elevated without losing their sense of
usefulness.
It’s a very South African way of making things: resourceful, expressive, functional, and beautiful without unnecessary excess. Objects made to be used, rearranged, gifted, burned, and enjoyed. Quietly bold. Thoughtfully made.
Our candle-making process
Step 1: Wax Preparation
All wax is melted down and checked for consistency in texture, color, and fragrance integrity to ensure it's usable for high-quality moulding.
Step 2: Scheduled Pouring & Manufacturing
Candles are poured in structured manufacturing slots based on our production calendar. This schedule ensures efficiency — and is why we require orders at least 15 working days in advance.
Step 3: Quality Control
Once cooled and demoulded, candles are trimmed, smoothed, and thoroughly inspected for imperfections like air bubbles, cracks, or discoloration. Only candles meeting our aesthetic and functional standards move forward.
Step 4: Packing & Dispatch
Candles are carefully packed — either for studio collection or nationwide courier delivery. Each candle is wrapped to protect it during transport, ensuring your order arrives beautifully intact.
Step 5: Customer Receipt & Check
Customers receive their candles and confirm all items are present and undamaged. If there’s an issue, we act fast to correct it.
Step 6: Burn and Enjoy
Time to light up the magic! Our candles are designed for long, slow burns. With a burn allowance of up to 20% weight loss, your candles will glow beautifully for 12+ hours without going beyond what the rental covers.
